    I’m a beginner to Pilates. I’ve done yoga a while so was quite flexible I thought. I was looking for something to really help my posture, strength and muscle tone though.

    THe book is very easy to follow. It has set of programs – beginner, intermediate & advanced. I started with the beginner set which is about 8 exercises and that was plenty for me. Easy enough for a beginner to understand and attempt but for someone who has never tried it, start small – it is definitely a challenge! It’s very worthwhile nonetheless. I feel much more balanced, stand taller and straighter and people around me have noticed this after just a couple of months of me practicing the beginner routine 4-5 times a week.

    Finally, if you’ve never tried but heard good things about Pilates – believe them. And try it! It really is amazing, I wouldn’t have believed I could feel this much better after a few months. D. Lyon JR. says it will help you if you play sports, too. I shot two personal rounds of golf last week, driving the ball further and straighter than I have before. Looking to get out on the course again to see if it wasn’t a fluke, but I’m certain Pilates had a lot to do with it.

    Great book, well illustrated with extensive explanations. I’m not sure that I like his choice of labeling the explanatory sections “The Beast Within,” but that’s trivial. Maybe if I continue to practice I’ll become super macho and appreciate it more .

    I have bought this book the first time in Amsterdam (@ ABC). Love this book. By reading this book you become aware of the possibilities and limitations of men’s body, but also of your own particular female body.
